Hearing aid battery sizes and colours
There are four hearing aid battery sizes, each with its own colour on the packet and sticker tab: 10 yellow, 312 brown, 13 orange and 675 blue. All are 1.45 V zinc-air cells; bigger cells last longer but need a bigger hearing aid.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Size 10 | yellow | 5.8 mm | 3.6 mm | ≈ 90 mAh | PR70, A10, 10A, ZA10 |
| Size 312 | brown | 7.9 mm | 3.6 mm | ≈ 180 mAh | PR41, A312, 312A, ZA312 |
| Size 13 | orange | 7.9 mm | 5.4 mm | ≈ 310 mAh | PR48, A13, 13A, ZA13 |

Getting the most from hearing aid batteries
- Keep the sticker tab on until use: the cell activates when air gets in, and an unpeeled cell keeps for years.
- After peeling, wait about one minute before closing the door so the cell reaches full voltage.
- Open the battery door at night to save power and let moisture escape.
- Streaming audio over Bluetooth can halve battery life.
- Store spares at room temperature, not in the fridge: condensation shortens their life.
