357 battery (SR44)
SR44: 1.55 V silver oxide button cell, 11.6 mm × 5.4 mm, about 170 mAh (264 mWh). Same battery: SR1154. Also fits: LR44.
1.55 Vvoltage
11.6 mmdiameter, 0.46 in
5.4 mmthick, 0.213 in
≈ 170 mAhcapacity
SR44: what to know
- 357 is the high-drain SR44 (for backlights and digital displays) and 303 the low-drain one; both are the same size as the LR44 and fit any LR44 device.
SR44 equivalents
SR1154
- 357: SR44W
- 303: SR44SW
- AG13: alkaline
- LR44: alkaline
- A76: alkaline
Can I use another battery instead of an SR44?
| Battery | Size | Volts | Works? | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LR44 | 11.6 mm × 5.4 mm | 1.5 V | Yes | Same size; alkaline is cheaper but fades sooner. |
| SR1136SW | 11.6 mm × 3.6 mm | 1.55 V | Short-term | 1.8 mm thinner: may sit loose; fine short-term. |
| LR43 | 11.6 mm × 4.2 mm | 1.5 V | Short-term | 1.2 mm thinner: may sit loose; fine short-term. |
| SR43 | 11.6 mm × 4.2 mm | 1.55 V | Short-term | 1.2 mm thinner: may sit loose; fine short-term. |
| Size 675 | 11.6 mm × 5.4 mm | 1.45 V | No | Zinc-air cells need air holes; not for sealed devices. |
| CR1/3N | 11.6 mm × 10.8 mm | 3 V | No | Wrong voltage: 3 V vs 1.55 V. |
Two SR44s stacked = 3 V, 10.8 mm: the same as one CR1/3N, which lasts longer.
What uses an SR44 battery?
- Calipers, micrometers and other precision tools
- Watches and calculators
- Film cameras and light meters
- Laser pointers and toys
357 = low drain (analog watches), 303 = high drain (digital, backlights). Same 11.6 mm × 5.4 mm cell; either works in most watches.
Alkaline version: LR44 (AG13), about 120 mAh vs 170 mAh; cheaper but its voltage sags.
