CR2016 battery
CR2016: 3 V lithium coin cell, 20 mm × 1.6 mm, about 90 mAh (270 mWh). Same battery: DL2016, ECR2016, DL2016B.
3 Vvoltage
20 mmdiameter, 0.79 in
1.6 mmthick, 0.063 in

CR2016: what to know
- Some devices stack two CR2016s to get 6 V: replacing the pair with one CR2032 (the same 3.2 mm total thickness) gives only 3 V and the device will not work.
- At 1.6 mm it is the thinnest common 20 mm coin cell.

Can I use another battery instead of a CR2016?
| Battery | Size | Volts | Works? | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CR2012 | 20 mm × 1.2 mm | 3 V | Short-term | 0.4 mm thinner: may sit loose; fine short-term. |
| CR2025 | 20 mm × 2.5 mm | 3 V | No | 0.9 mm thicker: will not fit. |
| CR2032 | 20 mm × 3.2 mm | 3 V | No | 1.6 mm thicker: will not fit. |
| LIR2032 | 20 mm × 3.2 mm | 3.7 V | No | Rechargeable 3.7 V cell (4.2 V when full): can damage a 3 V device. |
What uses a CR2016 battery?
- Older Toyota, Honda and Subaru key remotes
- Watches and calculators
- Small toys and LED tealights
- Devices that stack two cells for 6 V

20 mm coin cells are the size children swallow most; one can burn the throat in two hours. Keep spares sealed and battery doors taped.
